Queens mother wins $4,800 a month child support award plus $1000 per month for child care

This case involved a woman whose ex refused to contribute more than $200 a month for the support of his seven year old twin boys. The father was the owner of a successful restaurant and two Manhattan apartment buildings. He attempted to hide his assets through tax right off’s and the transferring of his property into his mother’s name, but an investigation of his financial records uncovered his true worth.     

New York father wins reduction in his child support obligation.   

This case involved an appeal from a court order which forced a man to pay $1,800 a month in child support for a seven year old child.  The award for support was downwardly modified to $600 per month after it was successfully argued that the trial court violated statutory law by failing to impute income to the woman based upon the substantial financial assistance she and her son were receiving from her family members.         

Brooklyn mother wins $30,000 child support award from the estate of her deceased baby daddy.

This case involved an unmarried mother who failed to have paternity established while her son’s father, a successful minister, was alive.  After the man passed away DNA tests were conducted upon his other children for the purpose of establishing a biological connection and a legal entitlement to a portion of the estate.

Virginia father freed from obligation to pay school tuition for his two daughters   

In this case a mother tried to force her ex husband to pay her $800 a month to cover tuition expenses for a local catholic school at which she decided to enroll her children.  It was successfully argued that since the mother enrolled her children in the school with neither the knowledge nor the consent of the father he should not be held responsible for the payment of this expense. 

Aunt wins $585 bi-weekly child support award for her two teenage nieces

In this case the Nassau County Family Court awarded custody of teenage girls ages 14 and 15 to their aunt. The mother who had physically abused the girls refused to send money for the support of her daughters.  The aunt sued for child support and won an automatic income deduction order in the amount of $585 bi-weekly.      

Yonkers Mother wins $1,000 bi-weekly child support award and $ 2000 per month for children’s tuition expenses.

This case involved a mother of two who divorced her husband, a New York City Police Detective with a salary of $110,000 a year.   The award was based both on the statutory percentage of the father’s income and his ability to pay.
